Russia’s Dmitry Samokhvalov was the overall winner at the European Advanced Championship recently held in the Czech Republic at Chotebor by just over 1.1% from Loic Lovicourt of France, with Roman Ovchinnikov of Russia in third place. Dmitri also collected a further set of gold, silver and bronze medals for the individual programmes, other medal positions across all the programmes going to Valerii Nalyvayko (UKR), Rodolfo Natale (ITA), Bastien Le Roux (FRA) and Vladimir Kotelnikov (RUS). All the results are as usual available on the CIVA Results website.
The team winners were naturally Russia in the top slot, followed by France, Ukraine and the rest.
Awarded to the victor for the first time at this championship was the brand-new Ivan Tucek Trophy, presented by the Czech Aero Club in recognition of Ivan’s former exploits which included winning the Unlimited World Championship in 1978.
Chotebor proved to be a fine venue for the championship, though the weather ranged from extremely hot to unusually cold during the event. The box layout was pretty confusing though – thus an excellent venue for a future WAC according to Mikhail Mamistov!
