CIVA is delighted to announce that its first FAI Open Excellence Aerobatic Challenge category-2 event is to be run in combination with the World Aerobatic Championships (WAC) at Mokre/Zamosc Airport, Poland in August 2024. The power Excellence category provides a logical mid-way stage between the long-established Advanced and Unlimited power categories, and has been developed and run in France by the FFA through many successful years.
Power pilots who have established their credentials at Advanced level and are looking for an enhanced challenge will henceforward be able to take a fresh step upwards into this new regime, offering a range of additional figures whose difficulty is carefully set to offer an interesting extension from those at Advanced while remaining comfortably short of the somewhat higher range required when competing at Unlimited.
The Excellence programmes are different too – one of the two published Known sequences will be selected at the first briefing, and is followed by up to two Unknown programmes with a maximum difficulty of 350K that will be presented by the Contest Director.
You will now find the following Excellence related items added to this website:
- A new menu item under Documents has the two Known sequence diagrams
- A zip with the two OpenAero .seq files is available on the 2024 Free Known’s page
- The CIVA Documents page has the new Excellence Regulations
- The WAC-24 events page has Bulletin #1 with the paired Unlimited and Excellence details
Pierre Varloteaux and the WAC Organisers have been working hard to get this all finalised, and we look forward to seeing the new level in action during August.
